JASON DASENT
The Man with a Mission to make
Accessibility the Norm
Meet Jason, a dedicated innovator in the music tech industry with over nine years of experience collaborating with leading companies to make their hardware and software products accessible from the back end. In 2016, while still living and working in his home country Trinidad, he designed his innovative software overlays on the Keyboard Maestro Platform to enhance accessibility in hardware and software, making products like Native Instruments' Maschine navigable by the visually impaired user.
In 2021 and 2022, Jay hosted key online events uniting industry pros, music tech makers, retailers, and educators to spark meaningful dialogue around accessibility and inclusivity in music. Jay’s ongoing affiliation with organisations like Creative United and Drake Music keeps him closely connected to the evolving needs of the differently-abled community, enabling him to advocate for accessibility and guide the companies he collaborates with.
To date he's successfully consulted with music tech giants such as Ableton, Arturia, Audio Modeling, Charanga, Focusrite, Native Instruments, Spotify, Softube and SSL among others.
In his role as accessibility consultant, he has advised the staff of The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Western University, Ontario, University of Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan University, New York University as well as the Triborough Hub in London and the Lancashire Hub.
